A spare room. A car. A few hours. A seat on a flight. There are lots of ways to help — and every person who carries part of the work increases what our small team can do for cats across St. Croix.
GIVE THEM A SAFE PLACE TO LAND.
Foster homes are essential to our rescue work.
RCC does not operate as a "traditional shelter" with a physical building. We rely 100% on foster families to give rescued kittens and cats a safe, loving temporary home while they grow, recover, socialize, or wait for adoption.
Our St. Croix fosters need to be able to:
- Pick up food and foster supplies when needed.
- Transport their foster kittens or cats to and from veterinary appointments.
- Send us good, current photos and regular updates.
- Keep us informed about health, behavior, personality, and progress.
- Provide a safe indoor environment, care, love, and socialization.

Current photos and personality updates are essential for adoption listings, social media, fundraising, and helping us introduce each foster cat to the right family.
HELP GET CATS TO CARE — AND BACK HOME.
You don't have to trap cats to make TNVR possible.
One of our greatest needs is simply moving cats and traps where they need to go. TNVR transport volunteers can help with one or more parts of the process:
- Pick up trapped community cats and bring them to the clinic.
- Pick cats up after surgery.
- Keep covered traps safely overnight while cats recover.
- Return cats to their exact home territory the following morning.
- Move clean, empty traps between RCC and trapping locations.
You don't have to commit to every clinic or every step. Even being available for occasional transportation can make an enormous difference.
HELP A CLINIC DAY RUN.
No veterinary degree required.
High-volume spay/neuter days depend on people working behind the scenes. There are important jobs that don't require veterinary training.
Clinic volunteers help clean traps, keep work areas organized, and monitor cats as they wake up from anesthesia, along with the practical tasks that keep cats moving safely through the clinic.
Every cat who comes through a TNVR clinic represents future litters prevented — and volunteers make that possible.

Our work doesn't stop at the shoreline. Mainland volunteers and travelers help us get rescued cats to their new homes and support the network that makes adoption possible.
BE A KITTEN TAXI
Flying from St. Croix to the mainland? You may be able to save a life simply by accompanying a cat or kittens on your flight. RCC coordinates the arrangements, and our cats travel safely in the aircraft cabin, under the seat — never as cargo.
HELP ON THE MAINLAND
Our mainland volunteers help with receiving cats, transportation, adoption coordination, and the many practical details that get a Cruzan cat from foster care on St. Croix into a permanent home.
